First, let’s answer what Resilience is?
Resilience enables us to bounce back after a stressful experience or event such as a significant change, stress, or adversity by developing a positive adaptation. Also, can be a person ability to face adversity without losing the big picture and without losing the elasticity of emotional, cognitive, and behavioral activities.
For being able to face adversity you can try to see the positive side of a negative situation or challenge by embracing an Active Thinking that can drive them to a Growth Mindset.
For facing an adversity experience you should know your:
People resiliency levels will determine who succeed and who fails. Your values will guide you and your Purpose will keep you on track. Resilient people are best to turn adversity into a growth experience, and to leverage it into new experiences and ways of working & living.
Resilient people can be said that have 3 main characteristics:
However, it is not so easy to build your resilience as can be hard because of a) the fear of failure, b) of the anger (why happens that to me) and c) of the confusion that can drive you to panic and so to a paralysis.
One of the most important elements of building your Resilience for facing Adversity, is to build your Trust with all stakeholders as Trust is one of the most valuable elements of your leadership. It’s more likely stakeholders to Trust a Leader that previously had built with them an Authentic, Responsible and Trusted relationship rather than to trust an opportunistic leader. Leaders can demonstrate trust by being Authentic, Transparent, Honest, Reliable and Human.
If you do not trust yourself others will not trust you too.!!
Another way for becoming Resilient as a person or as an organization is through the relationships & network of people. The High-Quality Connections that you have in your life are critical for your well-being, performance, and resilience for facing adversity & change. Most people & organizations are investing time, energy, and attention for building low quality connections with people and partners that are similar with them. They avoid listening, communicating, including diversity, discussing their opinion even if it a contradictory one as they afraid to fail, or to take part in a productive conflict or to make a mistake. They give more attention on “how they say things than on what they say” (Politics).
The quality of connections between people in an organization is a critical contributor to an organization’s resilience, and as a leader, the quality of connections you have with others in your life is a critical determinant of your health, well-being, and efficiency over time.
Thus, can be said, that resilient people can face crisis, adversity, and crucible moments as a growth experience by adapting a Growth Mindset instead of a fixed one that can generate a positive outcome through a negative challenge that might face. They can set their Vision clearly by communicating it and trusting their people, to understand how things works through their experiences, to lead their teams with courage, and to have adaptability & flexibility to their tactics for turning adversity into a growth & learning experience.
